i drive a 96 eclipse gst..it has a 6 bolt. my problem is that when i start up the car
it runs for like almost a min and then dies.. start it up again and then push the gas pedal a few times..after that it stays running. but when i go to drive it can barely accelerate...goes like 5 mph and then when i shift, the car starts to shake so i just downshift to 1st again.
the other problem is that oil is going into the intercooler and some even coming out of the exhaust!! i recently just changed the turbo since the stock turbo was super bad...so i thought everything was fine after that, so i take it out for a drive and yet the same thing is still happening...im stuck right now!! tomorrow im checking the spark plugs and then taking the valve cover off to see if a lifter or rocker is bad...any ideas???
 
Have you ever overheated? If so maybe a warped block.

naw man..it's never overheated...it was driving fine for a couple of days
and then all of a sudden this happened. now im forced to see if i wanna drop in a new motor or keep checking to see what is wrong. the motor has just been rebuild and has about 5k miles on it.
 
Check your plugs. I've had this problem before. The whatchamacallit white part, forget the name, broke. Pull the plugs.
 
well got the new spark plugs put in and nope it's not the plugs!!
i'm thinking it might be a bend valve? not sure, but im gonna be taking the valve cover
off tomorrow when i get back from work..i sure hope it's nothing serious!!!
 
That really sounds like you gave your self a new boost leak after switching out turbos etc. Have you done a boost leak test or checked your hose clamps after reinstalling everything?

With a bad leak, (possibly around a clamp) you'll make boost but it will all escape and you'll run like crap, stutter etc. You'll also suck in unmetered air under vacuum (idle), run too lean and then the engine will die.
 
My one buddy had a problem like this, hes damn O-ring on the fuel pump was bad...it allowed it to run but when i tried to do anything it just stalled. Its a possibility.

im gonna check it out sometime today or tomorrow..hopefully it's not to big of a problem.
 
Mine is doing something similar and have tried everything people have already suggested. Have you tried to make sure your engine turns over smoothly? Not some parasitic drag coming from somewhere causing the engine to not want to rotate? Check if you're pulling timing. If these are happening, you have the same problem as me. I fixed the parasitic drag (seized oil pump) and haven't yet had a chance to try if it works. Let me know if you get this fixed.

sup man. well as of right now im taking off the intake manifold since
there seems to be oil coming from it, ### it goes all the way down my
throttle body piping to the bov and then in the intercooler. nothing's wrong with the
internals,myabe i might have to take the head off t check the pistons to see if
the pistons are fried or not. everything else is mostly all new from the oil pump to the water pump..not really sure what is wrong at this moment, but im doing my best
to detect the problem. hopefully i can find out what's wrong tomorrow..i'll let you
know.
 
SUP bro. Sounds like a bad rebuild bro. Check the compression before you pull the head. Excessive blow by is whats causing the oil puddles. Seems that the head wasn't properly seated with the block. Do a compression test, then a leak down just for security purpose. If it turns out that the rebuild is bad, take it back to the person who did it. If both the leak and compression checks out good, then we know that we can focus on something else.
 
Yes do a comp. test before you open the engine up, there is allot of things you can check before opening up the engine. Try a known working ecu also. You never know about the ecu, they like to just quit working. Did you check your ignition system, wires,transistors etc?

The oil sounds like Blow by for sure.

sup bro. yeah i gotta take the car in for a compression test. that's the only way imma know for sure. but im so busy with work and have no time at all. i wont be able to do anything as of today. sometime this week or next week i'll bring the car in for a compression test.
