RS60T took a dump

Just to add another experience; I use an RS49T, now a little over a year old, and it has no problems. Installed it with AGP oil lines, feeding from filter housing through FP oil line filter, and no teflon on any of the fittings. 10w-30 Mobil1 changed every 3K. Spools fast, pulls hard.

I'll throw up my experience with turbonetics.
I had an old garret 60-1 from Ben @ AGP was flawless for the year I had it. Almost a year ago when I "got bored" with that size turbo, he cut me a great deal on a Turbonetics T66BB. I have pushed the living $hit out of it and yes it died once.......when I sucked the o2 sensor wire into it pushing 32psi !!! Ben had the greatest customer service, turbonetics had the t66 compressor wheel on BO. But honestly you can not get mad at anyone for taking a little while rebuilding a turbo for you at the expense of shipping. All in all I have been very satisfied with my turbonetics turbo.

+1 for ben.
I am running the rs49t as well with an oil feed from the head. Have absolutely no problems/complaints. Turbo pulls hard and begins to build boost just over 2k. All the DSM's i know of happen to all be from ben which is how i got mine. Not one has failed, ranging from 10 sec drag cars to 12 sec dailly cars.

i have had my first rs49t fail on me and AGP had no problem with replacing it as soon as they could. yes this failure was my fault too, my return line was too long. i believe alot of the reasons these turbos are failing is because we are all taking these shortcuts in the first place. i am willing to bet that most of these failing turbos are due to the customer.

What it comes down to is poor oiling and oil return capacity.

Make sure you have -4an feed line unrestricted, and the biggest return line possible.

Some of the oil kits the vendors are selling with the turbo are a joke. I bought one from a dsm vendor and it was the sole reason my turbo shat out. Insufficent oil return capacity.

The oil return need to be the same diameter as the stock piece. Including the holes in the flanges at each end. The return pipe should be as strainght as possible as well.

These oil only turbos need alot of oil in order to cool the chra and lubricate everything at the same time.

and on a side note, I changed my chra out to a water cooled section. I can easily tell it doesnt get nearly as hot. I used to melt my cheap ass couplers on the turbo intake, now they are fine.

Trust me, the "perfect" oil lines are not the big culprit here. Heck, some people have posted they are pulling oil from the head (i.e. worst spot possible) and said their turbo works fine while others are pulling oil from the filter housing (i.e. best possible spot) and had their turbo fail. Same thing with -3AN and -4AN lines.

Hey guys, to everyone who wants to post a review of their turbo - good or bad - please post it in our Product Feedback section in the Tech Guide. Be detailed and thorough. We want to gather all of the product reviews in one place, not have them scattered throughout the forums like this. Then, instead of having to tell everyone the same story about your turbo over and over, you can just point them to your review.

That would be the logical thing, so we can see a whole bunch of reviews at once.

Sorry about bringing this back but I had some questions.

I'm going to have to return my RS49T after two months of use due to the blades scraping the housing and shaft play.

For those who had to return them did you have to pay for shipping?

Did you have anyproblems with the rebuilt or replaced turbo?

Keep us posted on your grievance with AGP. I hope Ben takes care of you.

Its not AGP that is the problem. Its the fact that that turbo is made by turbonetics and they happen to suck. If you ever buy an AGP(very good turbo's IMO) do not get anything that ends in a "T" or it is a turbonetics turbo. Buy an RS49 not RS49T and so forth. Sorry about your bad luck.
