Hi there , I am new to the forum and to dsm's
I have a 97 gts spyder , I bought the car about a month back .
The first week the alt went , so i brought it in to get rebuilt , i got the car back and with in half an hour the timing belt went on the highway
So i got the engine rebuilt and when i got it back it would not run with the maf plugged in , so i drove it home with the maf unplugged .It runs good with the maf unplugged but very rich , so today i got a working maf and plugged it in , i got it idling better than with it unplugged but when i give gas the revs don't drop sometimes any ideas , the guy i bought it off might come by and try tuning it through the dsm link this weekend .
So does anyone have an idea of what is causing this ? I have a bolt 2.0l head and a 2.4 litre block with a 14g turbo , it was running beautiful before the timing belt went
Another quick question : I had my alternator go a second time since I rebuilt it , should my alternator be just as good as new when its rebuilt ? I bought the car with the heat shield removed , I am looking at replacing it , but I was wondering if dei's titanium wrap would help lower the ambient heat being felt by the alternator if I wrap the manifold and down pipe , or would the heat shield be a better way of keeping my alty cooler ?
THANKS in advance guys , Im new to dsm's ,so enlighten me please !
