Ok so unlike all the other threads I found my car (95 eagle talon TSI) will not do this all the time. Every couple of days my car will start idling very rough normally bouncing between 200 and 750 after acceleration or even after revving the engine. Sometimes it will stall out. I have had this problem then it will clear up all the sudden and not come back for days. I recently changed the plugs and wires (NGK Iriduim plugs at .028" and 7.5mm wires) thinking that this was the problem but it doesn't seem to have done any good. The car is running pretty rich but I don't think that is the cause because the problem is not constant. Any advice on what could cause this problem to appear and disappear is greatly appreciated!

It could be the throttle body not staying at a certain position and it's just "fluttering" open. Causing the RPM's to go from 200 to 750. (200's super low!). I've read that a messed up throttle body leads to bad idle.

I had a similiar issue with my 96 many years ago. When was the last time you did a leak test? I had a small crack in my lower coupler, and it caused irratic idle. It wasn't all the time, but after looking and looking I noticed that. Fixed the issue. Could start there.

Everyone overlooked the iridium plugs? Shame!

Throw them at whomever sold em to you. Copper plugs only.

Just to eliminate a potential problem.....(if it's manual) throw the car into neutral and press the clutch. Make sure your RPMS don't drop when you press the clutch. If they do, then PM me. If they don't, then forget I mentioned it. Do this when the car is cold and when it's warm.

Ok so the clutch does no appear to affect the idle. So looks like I will be looking at some of the other issues there. Will also replace the plugs either way. Thanks for the input guys. I will post the solution if I find it.

:nono: He had this problem before and after he changed the plugs...Sound's like a venting BOV problem..High rev, blow off metered air into atmosphere, causing engine to stall and run rough at idle. Try checking your BOV recirculation hose. :talon:

Ok so new plugs are in. BLT revealed one large leak and two small ones. All leaks taken care of. Running great now. :D
