stock 90 gst, we have replaced the plugs, checked the ignition coil, and just got a repaired ecm back from forum member Steve.
Car USUALLY starts, (we have had a few occasions where it just turned over for awhile) it runs rough, and will occasionally stall out completely. We can hear a clear misfire through the exhaust, irregular, sometimes as fast as 1 per second. We are also missing power.
I would like to screen some ideas here on what to check next, and get suggestions if you know of something that I haven't thought of.
Plug wires?
Fuel injectors?
Idle Speed Control?
ECM still jacked?
Timing somehow screwed up?
Loss of compression?

Please let me know if you think any of those components might cause the symptoms we are getting, and add to our list if there is anything we missed. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys i am a newbie at this but i do know some stuff about this cause my car is having the same problem but my clicking is coming from my mfi relay. Also my car stalls out when the clicking gets louder when the throttle increases then bucks alot and eventually stalls. I have new wires, new mfi relay, properly gaged plugs, a new ecu, and a new fuel pump and still this problem has not gone away. Can someone help me with this problem also?

I think I have the same problem. Disconnect your battery, unplug your ISC, reconnect the batter, and then turn the switch to on and listen for clicking. If the clicking goes away, you pretty much have the same problem as me.

i just installed 660cc injectors and my car is acting the same way... i belive its becasue of the stock regulator

Does any one know wut the real problem is? I think it has something to do with the ecu or the fuel system for the car. Put if the ecu is bad how can i tell?

i was having the same problem with my tsi. first thing that happened was i lost boost pressure then right after that the clicking came in the firewall area. even with the key out it would still make the ticking noise. Shortly after my ecu went up in smoke. make sure when it rains your ecu isnt gettin wet
