I caught on to this site cause I'm having problems.....I have had problems with the idle idle jumping between 500&1500 and I had a friend look at it and he adjusted it but it still was never quite right, but now recently I have a rough idle and also when driving it feels like its only on three cylinders, then seems like all of a sudden the engine will snap out of it and run smoothly only to have the same problems again within seconds....I changed the plugs and wires to no avail...what should I also check for to solve this problem...and when I turn on the a/c it wants to stall so bad, and at times will do just that. I read in an earlier post that you should check the ECU what other things can I look at as well because I was reading up on changing capacitors and all for the ECU, it all got really in depth and I don't want to go thru all that if It may be something else????? If anyone else has had the same problem or knows the causes ,...please ....help me out here ... cause i spent about $ 2200-2500 on a used motor that was put in about a year and a half ago(and it ran great for a day), the very next day out of the shop I started it up and the jackass motor mechanic didn't replace the timing belt tensioner and it snapped, I tried starting the car a couple of times before it just died out, he took it back and told me that all the old parts went back on the car ,except he did recommended I get a new water pump then I said well shouldn't I just put on a new timing belt as well cause I know the prob w/ the timing belt on these cars, and then he acted as tho I should of told him to replace the tensioner as well, even tho I never even knew anything about what all should of been replaced with the used motor, isn't he the mechanic , shouldn't he of recommended those things to me,especially on a car that has a 125,000 miles on it... , the car hasn't ran well since that incident ,I kept giving the car back to him (like 3 or 4 times)cause the Idle was always jumping horribly on it, and he told me that it needed a mass air flow sensor, so I just said to hell with this guy, well enough of my ramblings...I'm just F'n sick of it.....but now I need to get this sputtering fixed so HELP ME......please!!!!!!!!

(I know I jumped around alot with the story an all, but I needed to vent)

CHECK THE INJECTORS that was my problem i had the same prob as you were and it was my injectors so find out which cylinder it is by running the car while pulling out the wires one at a time and when you figure out which one it is change that injector

When I was compression testing my car about a week ago I pulled the injectors and put them all into small glass jars (while still connected and withough pulling the EFI fuse) when I had my bro crank the motor I watched the injectors and mine were spraying adequatly but I cleaned them anyway, if my injectors were bad I wouldn't replace them because I'm buying a new car (not saying that is what everyone should do, just saying I don't want to spend $300 on injectors for a car I'm not going to keep).

I'll keep posting anything I find that might attribute to the hesitation above 5k.
