I learned a lesson today after taking my valve cover off...Dont use solid lifters...!
One of the solid lifters came apart and disloacated one of my intake rocker arms..I found it near the exaust valves in a oil groove..

Car misfired/hesitated over 5000 rpm and had a stalling issue...

I took pics and if anyone can tell me if the intake valve is damaged..?

I hope all is ok and i got lucky..

The valve tip looks ok... It still may be bent, no way to check with out moving the valve in the guide and see if it feels sticky, or removing the head and pulling the valve.

I may have gotten lucky..Solid lifters also damaged the rocker arms ..chewed the tips..WTF..!
Had to replace them all...

Anyone for solid lifters?..I know people use them to degree cams..

3 methods to check the valve:
1: On car: Compression tester, downside is if you have a leaking valve it won't tell you if you bent one or not
2: off car, valve in head: Remove a cam and rotate the other till all the valves are closed on the cylinder in question, flip it upside down, and fill with fluid, parts cleaner or kerosene or similar is ideal, if the fluid leaks down the combustion chamber past the valve seats, they aren't sealing, make sure the spark plug is in there and tight beforehand.
3: off car, valve removed, fairly self explanatory, roll the stem of the valve on a flat surface, and if it wobbles, it is bent, also watch the head of it and make sure that it isn't

What spring set up do you have?

It is common knowlage that Kelford 272 cams should be used with Beehive springs, due to the agressive ramp rates.

From info posted in the fourms here single straight springs seem to lack the ability to control the valve motion caused by the Kelfords.

So use caution if you proceed with this set up.
 
They are Crower springs and retainers.... Would I be in trouble with kelfords 272's?

I had crower 264's in there before...

I would hate to buy behive springs and rip the head off...

There has been issues with Kelford 272's and single springs, in this thread it was the use of Crower Springs

Looks to be the same set up you had, and going to the set up that failed.

If you look at the Kelford recommened springs, you will see the Beehives listed.

If you go Beehive look at the GSC set up, Part number 5041
Very nice set up, and you do not need the thick seats that kiggley uses.

I just installed the 5041 a few days ago, and just pulled a set of the Kiggleys today off another head.
 
My Crower 264's are going back in...380WHP is enough for me around the street...Hate to change the cams again!!!

I will put the kelfords on the shelf until i decide to rip the head off and spend more money$$$$

Threw out solid lifters..replaced with 3g hydraulics and put my crower 264's back in...car runs so much better...no stalling and choking around 6000rpm...

Beware of solid lifters...
