I have the cams at the correct timming marks, but not all the valves are closed. I took out all the lifters and rocker arms and put them in a tub of oil, where they sat for 3 days or more. Now when I am looking at the lifters not all of them are sticking out the same amount. I did not put the lifters or the rocker arms back in their original position. Help, yes please :pray:
 
What a job thats was.. I am soo glad the lady at the corner store gave me three clips :D Do you have to do that to the lifters everytime you take off the cams? Thanks for link btw. Do you have one on how to put it back in time and mount the head? I wouldn't have to mess with craigslist ASE sertified mechanics LOL. Cheers :hellyeah:

I bleed my lifter every time I have the cams out. I'd rather not risk bending a valve.

I had a few that kept ticking, even after 15 minutes of idling, until I took it out for a drive.

mount the head on the studs, normal tightness from center out on the bolts in a criss cross pattern.

7 8 9 10 11 12


i would go 3,10,8,6,7,12,2,5,beer,9,4,11,1
then torque to spec same order.

timing is easy, put cyl 1 to TDC, install head, cams, gears, making sure all marks are alligned, also be quite defitate your balance shafts are aligned (if equiped) cam gears to have mark lined up perfectly, along with everything else on the belts run, like so...

take the belt back off and rotate your rear balance shaft one full rev and put belt back on, the shaft is counter balanced, so has to be in there the right way ;p (again if equiped)

Well got everything back together and now no spark >< When in the car sometimes when you turn the key it wont turn over and you hear a sound inside the car like behind the radio I think. Idk, for sure getting fuel and air. Any ideals? Thanks alot guys.
 
That sound is the computer clicking, which is normal. Silly question, but did you hook up the spark plug wires in the right order?

When you turn the key to the "ON" position does the check engine light come on for 5 seconds and then go out? If the clicking happens when you turn the key to start the car the "clicking" your hearing is a starter relay behind the radio.

There are two relays behind your stereo, ones the multiport fuel injector (MFI) relay and the other is the fuel pump relay. Its the MFI relay you probably hear clicking when your trying to start the car if you know your getting fuel to the fuel rail.

Yep getting fuel to the rail and the check engine light comes on for 5 sec and I hear clicking behind the dash after tring to start it.
 
Ending up I had the AC and the CPS mixed up. Fires fine now ^^ Thanks for all the information guys. All the support here is exactualy why I love my DSM. Your not going to find the caliber of knowledge that you find here just anywhere.
