Boost isn't gonna build if your not on the gas, so if your just cruising I don't think it'll make a difference.

but 65-75 mph in my car(as well as all i would think) is around 3-3200 depending on accel. and thats in boost isnt it?

wow, we both basically posted the same question at the exact same time, im actually going from atlanta georgia to irvine, ca though, good luck.

how many miles do you have on ur talon?

111k on stock block but rebuilt less than a 100 miles, runs good...for now...lets hope for the best!
does anyone know the answer to my original boost question?

Even tho 3k rpms is boosting WHEN YOUR ON THE GAS if you got cruise control set and just "riding along" then no, your not in boost. Boost isn't just an rpm thin gbro. Definately gotta be on the gas for it. Otherwise when I'm at 70mph in my talon (2g) and at about 3100-3500 rpm's my gauge reads about 0-7 vac unless I hit the gas.
:)

You can cruise at 85 while developing no boost.

um, so I've heard. OMG

If you're going to be gettting on it, such as over the Sierra (aren't you pretty much flat 'till there?), you might want to keep it down a bit. One hint: if it's a long hill, instead of running higher boost and lower rpm, downshift to 4th and run higher revs and lower boost.

But if the car's healthy, it should do just fine. My '94 does, over and over.... a 130K.

Not once the car's up to speed. "Boost" is more air than the engine can take in. Once you're cruising, you're usually drawing just a bit of vacuum- the turbo's in a kind of "coasting" state, pretty much keeping manifold pressure close to zero.

ok thanx. tht answers up my questions.
yes defient it is a flat cruise until, for the most part, the Sierra.
