This car is hella fast for only doing 15psi and the car is bone stock pretty much so im wondering why is'nt my gsx this fast? My GSX will do 22 PSI but it takes for every to bost to 22psi as to the STI it hits 15 PSI as soon as he pushs the gas! So im sure its just my car but is eclipses able to do this hit boost that fast? and if so what would cause mine to be lagging that bad? I was told the turbo i got is a T3 i know its a 50 trim i think its a knock off though cause it dosent have a brand name on it and it looks alot like a garret!

But when its was all said and done after rideing in the sube i relly love to have one of the cars but a price tag of 7x what i paid for my GSX i think i will stick to the DSMs :)

price was 36k OMG

I would take my DSM over a Subie any day. Even for a newer one. Have you ever looked under the hood of a Subaru, its a cluster F*&k. And parts are as expensive as the car...

Wow. Well, the spool is due to his 2.5L motor with a turbo smaller than your "T3" on your 2.0. Plus a 12 year technology gap. I need to go read a book now or play some chess.

my cousing had a 02 subie wrx with 1000 inj. fuel pump. a t3/t4 turbo and a Utec ECU etc. i think it made 560 something to the wheels and it had a stock bottom end

yeah tell me about it theres no way i would want to work on one of them things! everything is so hard to get to LOL

and my gsx has a 2.4 stroker and now a stage 3 tranny as well as other mods so it should be at least 400-500 hp. I really need to get it tuned and it should be just as fast as the subaru or faster.

Is there any where in the midwest that has AWD dynos? I found one in STL and as well as Dallas Tx which both are along ass drive from here :(

your car needs tunning for sure, and again a well built dsm is way faster this this subby. maybe you need to get rid of this knock off turbo

IMHO my ported 14b hits harder(at 15psi) then the stock 08 STIs. We had one in at my work, the mid-range and top-end suck on the stock turbo. Noticeably fast spool-up though.
Not to mention those hatchback STIs look Fugly IMO.

it did exploded LOL..hahaha..i wasnt there this is what he told me..5th pull on the dyno=blown subie..LOL

I thought all wrx's (and evo's) were 2.0Ls due to rally regulations :hmm:

my buddy told me he'd rather do a timing belt job on a dsm then change his spark plugs. LOL now that sucks. but a subie does sound awesome imo

you guys seen ken blocks gymkhana vids on youtube. amazinnggg

that 500 hp on stock bottom end thing is bs, My brother had under 420 when his rod bearings let go. It was basically new. All mods were done professionally and dyno tuned. He went to some company called cob or sobb or w/e and spent darn close to 7500 for a mildly built ej25. It runs like a raped ape now but stock they dont do much. IT takes me about an hour and a half to change his plugs. rims splash shield everything has to come off. Its super lame. They have some pretty crap tranny's I think. They just dont feel as crisp as the evo. Your gsx could blast an sti with under 1200 in mods. I hate the new sti and wrx they are the most stupid looking things ever. I have put about 1000 miles on my brothers car and it rides somewhat nice the fit and finish on the inside is pretty good. It sounds good and pulls hard in the mid range its an 06 model year tho. They fall dead on the top stock , My brother basically did a full wrx conversion, De winged it and painted it. Looks much better and since it looks like a regular wrx all the stangs dont rev on him every second. I would never buy one but I like them. I think he spent 36 grand when all was said and done. Maybe even more I know the car was almost 30k it only had 2200 miles when he bought it. OMG wow I never even thought about how much he has into it LOL I could have all my talons fully built and still have some left...... its close to 40 k total he has into it. That goes a long way on just about any project car.

hey thats what he told me..i dont know if thats true...i lived here in tampa and he lived in pueto rico

you are 100% correct they have to be a 2.0 the wrx model came with an ej20t the STI came with either a ej20t or an ej25t 2.0 and 2.5 rally rules clearly states the engine can not displace in excess of 2000cc's. The jdm version wrx come with a stock twin turbo ej20 and the sti and 22b models come with a twin turbo ej25. I think they took the 2.0 2.5 option away now but for a while with an sti you had a choice the ej20 kicked out 300 hp just the the ej25.

To answer a few questions. The newer STi's have a map that can vary throttle input with throttle plate position thanks to drive by wire. Sort of like a cam on a throttlebody throttle shaft, except computer variable. The Turbo is a VF48, basically equivalent to a small 16g in terms of flow and spool capability. Finally, variable intake and exhaust cam timing (AVCS) which is completely mapped by the computer. Next, the motor is a 2.5 Liter short stroke, large bore. Now, don't think the large displacement means its a stroker, its not. So, yes you get good off boost torque but it is not the stump puller a stroked 4g63 is. You still need some revs to make torque on a Subie, but it also can rev reasonably high too, like a 2.0 liter.

If you want to know the answer why the STi's don't "hit" hard, I'll tell you. The factory has the boost pressure mapped and does everything it can to soften the boost hit and also drop boost off in the mid and topend. Once I bypassed the bleed solenoid I can get 17 psi by 3400 rpms all the way to redline. It has a decent hit now with nothing but a boost controller and removed intake snorkel.
