ok the other night I took my air filter out and cleaned it and I loonked at how resrictive my air box is. Now I have a k&n filter in their but it is held in my the stock air box, my question is- Is it ok to cut the end of the air box off up to where it is held on with the three metal clips? Iam tryin to do as many "cheap" mods as I can before I sink any major money into it.

O and another question will Iam asking, with a 3" GM MAF senor and the maf transloator will the car make any more power, and till run with this and no tuning yet? or should I just wait till I get DSMlink and a few more mods?

o and I need answers quick I just took it off and I gotta be at work by 5 LOL

yes, you can hack the air can it self as long as not the MAS.

You need to seach a little. theres a lot of threads about hacking air cans, MAF-Translators...

i searched and found three threads... last one was 2006 and the first on was 2003....LOL

which K&n do you have? I just removed the box and mine is held on by the clips itself

You probably have unmetered air going through your system . It is not passing through the maf , chances are it is getting in around edge of filter .

ok ok the vfaq link said to remove the lower comb thats why I asked before I did... thanks everyone for the responses

Umm , my bad . Lower meaning smaller like in vfaq okay . Just not big one .

I was confused and disoriented forgive me sir .

Np so is it ok to remove the lower comb without tuning or...not?

Step 13: Valve Cover Vent Breather
Replace the hose from the valve cover breather (left side of the valve cover) to the intake pipe with a simple breather filter and cap the intake pipe nipple. You can also use a catch can if you like. This keeps oil out of the intake pipes and the intercooler. If you want to do this even better, check out:

any one know a cheap way of doin this? and also pics please

Step 3: \"Hack\" MAF
There are several \"hacks\" to the mass airflow meter that will solve a plethora of problems that plague these cars. Take the whole aircan out of the car, and remove the filter. On the intake side, you will see 2 honeycombs. Remove the lower one. Below it, you will see a large plastic screw set up into the bottom of the air canal. Back it out a bit. On the other side of the MAF, there is a star-shaped siliencer, remove it.

The only one I did or would do again is the small honeycomb section .

A cheap way($4.25 CDN) is to use a fuel filter, I am using exactly the same fuel filter in exactly the same setup as described in this link and it seems to work fine.

Install a catch can for your DSM (2G)
