Just got an RFL in a trade for an old 14b of mine, and I took my friends TurboXS Type H-34 flange to fit the 1g flange and put it all together last night at a meet. It worked, but we didn't have silicone to seal the gasket and the vacuum line was a little short.

The BOV was blowing off, but wasn't very loud at all. My friends H34 was louder, and my old 1g BOV was significantly louder. I figured it was because of the leak and the small pinch in the vacuum line. So this morning I fixed both problems and drove home, and it's still not nearly as loud as I expected. It almost sounds like my 1g BOV did when it was recirculated.

I was told there's a way to adjust the RFL, but I don't know how to do that. I also think this BOV might just be a TurboXS RFL knock off, but it should still be louder than it is now. Any help is rewarded. :sneaky:

And before you flame me for venting, I am running Blow-Thru. :middlefinger:

you adjust by unscrewing the top were the vaccum nipple is ... theres a huge spring and washers at the bottom of the spring .... the more washer the stiffer it is and the less the softer it is ... im not sure but i think you could go as much as six washers ... when in had mine i didnt use any and it was really loud hope this helps

they are know fro leaking because you have a copper cylinder scraping the inside of the BOV. Get even a little dirt in there and it will look like an engine cylindar that swallowed a valve or some other type of metal.

However if you search on the web, i think i saw it on Honda-tech or home made turbo, there is a prevention for this.

Regards.

Don't just go packing washers in it to make it louder. Be sure to check it with a vacuum pump to be sure it's opening when it is supposed to or you'll damage the turbo.

I had some washers in it a little bit ago, and I noticed it got a little bit louder, and then added one more and it began to flutter.

I replaced my old 1g BOV with this one because my 1g BOV was fluttering all the time, and I figured the BOV might have been toast after I tried several things to the BOV and couldn't fix the fluttering.

However, now the RFL is beginning to flutter all the time if I add more than 2 washers in there. So I'm thinking it's something related to the car. I was reading about not using RTV and silicone, which I did when I installed the BOV.

Tonight I think I'm going to use a non-abrasive disc and clean up the piping and the BOV and remount it and give it time to cure, but can anyone else think of any reasons for this fluttering? My old 1g BOV was boost leak tested up to 25 pounds and didn't leak, but still fluttered constantly.

Thanks for any help.

Alright, took it off and played with it some more and came up with something else. With 3 washers in the BOV, it will hold 17 pounds perfect and has decent sound. With 4 washers in, it still holds the boost, but begins to flutter. I'm stumped on this one. Any ideas?
