The reverse lights aren't activating correctly; I've pulled the sensor plug and shorted it, and they come on. Next step (obviously) is to pull the switch itself and see if it'll actuate properly, or if it needs to be replaced.
I seriously doubt that it's gone bad, as sometimes when I 'miss' the reverse slot and hit the 'gate' between 4-R, the lights will come on. I've adjusted my shifter cables (still have a bit of clunk, need to replace the underhood bushings and add friction modifier) and now the reverse lights will not come on at all.
Suppose my real question is this: What actually comes into contact and 'pushes' the switch?
Also, the plastic 'plug' on top of the screw-in bolt seems to rotate with very little resistance. Is this normal?
