2G Reverse light not working

^ This. I had the same issue in my manual transmission where the lights would only come on if I was in "reverse" gear in just the right spot. Mine just needed an adjustment.

I know you drive auto but it should be roughly the same mechanism

But what mechanism are you talking about case on the auto transmission there is only 3 sensors the two speed sensors and the range switch
 
Is the reverse light switch not under the shifter, attached along with the neutral safety switch?
 
Well the back up switch is probably in that area also if I were guessing. They are usually together in most cars.
