reusing metal headgasket

I don't want a discussion on why or why not to reuse a headgasket. I have a 3 layer metal headgasket. What is recommended for cleaning the gasket, and should copper spray be used?

Copper spray is always a good idea

I reused one that had only been bolted down to the block a torqued. I used some copper spray and have not have ny issues, been boosting 25ish psi.

When you guys spray the copper on, do you take all the layers apart? Mine is held together with a rivet.

I have heard of some pulling it apart but it is not needed. Use carb cleaner to take the sealant off and a couple light coats of copper spray.
