so my local machine shop is almost done building my new head and we were going over the type of headgasket i should use. the guy who did the work suggested that i "o ring" the head and use an oem cosmetic headgasket rather than a metal one. im going for a pretty high horsepower build since im forged and now have a built head. which headgasket would be the safer route? thanks.

An O ring will be better and much more expensive but for your build a metal one will be more than enough! :thumb:

well both the head and block were machined smooth.. but the block had a different head on it for the past 300 or so miles.. until my gasket blew and warped it..

the machinist said he would o ring the head for 150. and throw in his spare oem gasket for 40. hows that for pricing?
