retarding stock exhaust cam?

i never try this with the 16G turbo but stock head with the SCM61 i had a problem seem like the air get stuck in the engine or intake mani at 5500 - 8000 rpm. After retard the exhaust cam gear the problem solve and i had a better pull at 5k-7.5k rpm, the full boost is early by 200-300rpm also broke my tranny in third gear few days ago.
btw i'm boosting at 1.3bar ( +-20psi) seeing a full boost around 4300 rpm on 3rd with pump gas.

Why are you building a motor for high HP when you plan on selling it
Stop waisting our time. At least keep the car for a year and have fun with it. Whats all your hard work for

I'm going to try it tomorrow, and let you guys know how it goes. I've had this same tune on my car for quite a while now, and i'm very used to how it acts.
I'll retard the exhaust cam 1 tooth counter-clockwise, and let you know how it goes. It won't be a dyno chart or anything, but it'll at least be SOMETHING for people to look at... ;)

I shouldn't have to take everything apart to do this, right? I should be able to take a little tension off of the t-belt tensioner through the access panel, correct?
Thanks

stop being a dick if you don't have helpful information. I've had most of these parts since before I planned on selling it. If I keep it or not is none of your business. How am I wasteing your time by asking a performance questions and following up with an answer??

Did you try it?

actually I did it just for shits and honestly didn't notice anything on the butt dyno. On a real dyno it might show a slight gain but nothing significant. Lets just say it won't drop any real time off you're 1/4 mile. It's gotta a meaner sound to it now though.

P.S. ... actually I just retarded it about 4 degrees since I have adjustable gears. I believe 1 tooth it 7.XX degrees?

I done my tunning a few day ago after changing my tranny.
Boosting at 1.7 bar (+-24 psi) with pump gas, AFR 11.5.
The car pulling harder from 5000rpm - 8000rpm spinning all the way in 2nd and 3rd.
Full boost at 4200rpm, i'm very happy with the power. hope to dyno it soon.

My ext. temp showing 11,000 at full boost even the wideband showing AFR of 11.5, is this because of the retarded exhaust cam?

i'm running 41 degree of ignition timing to spool up the turbo and retarded to 18 degree at full boost.. with pump gas :D

1100 degree calcius at full boost :p is it normal with retarded exhaust cam?

1100c is all bad dude! Ive seen EGT probes read falsely high though. We dont even use them if we know what the cars timing is staying at.

I have done it too 3 2g dsms and the outcome is it takes a toll on torque below 3k, but yeilds alot more top end (with a bigger turbo) "14b" atleast. It will make the car sound like a cammed v8 at idle and it hurts gas mileage a bit but the powerband is alot more linear and doesnt plain out at 5k just keeps pulling harder and harder till you shift. I have not had any negitivie affects yet (other than gas mileage) and ive driven it like that for almost a year. Hope this helps!

Holy thread from the dead! Great to see you're starting on the right foot and using the search function though...
