OK guys here is a good one for you! Every once in awhile when I start my car and drive it when its some what cold still and I hit boost I hear this gut retching scream I am pretty sure its not any belt most of the time it goes away but once I had to shut the engine off to make it stop! It almost sounds like my starter engages again or something? I believe this started once I changed my starter a month ago. Could that be it? What does it sound like when a bearing goes out? PS. This never happens once the car gets warmed up. Any ideas?

it could be your starter failing to dis-engage once you let off the "start"posistion of the key switch. I can't explain the noise, but it's a loud, dry metallic screech.

Can you post a cound clip or a vide with sound? That would help a ton!

P.S. how you been bro?

Well not to bad untill I heard this sound. I believe its my starter since it did it again today. But it did not want to stop so I turned my car off and coasted it which made the sound stop so I turned my key to to the "ON" position not even "CRANK" and it started again!! It only does it when it cold? The thing is I just installed the starter a week or two ago-which is when the sound started?! It as a lifetime warrenty on it so I can just take it back, but can you get a bad one (It's a rebuilt-Advanced Auto). Wife still mad-annoyed at you...LOL I so know what that feels like!

Well Glenn figured it out! The little plastic post between the positive and ground on the solonoid was broken, and the postive wire was angled so when my engine twists it grounds out and engages the starter! So I moved it and tried to insulate it a little better.
