ok so the guy i bought my car from was a dumb ass and decided to put some washers in the wastegate instead just going and buying the spring he needed so now i have to get a spring. i'm not sure what kind of wastegate i have but i was told it's the tial 38mm but like i said i'm not 100% sure which one i have. i found this HKS Racing Wastegate Springs from HorsepowerFreaks

and it says "universal" i'm going to get one for 18 psi. will these work??

Why are you worried about it? Are you running too much boost with the washers in there? Do you want to increase the boost with a higher spring rate? Are you running a manual boost controller? If you are then take out the washers and the boost will be lower and then bring it back up with the boost controller if you need to. But if you feel that you need to buy new springs and you think you have a Tial, then look at this.

yes that's how he cracked the piston. i'm getting a manual boost controller yes. and there's no spring in there currently...just washers

oh and all of those tial springs aren't as high as i want to run. the highest one is like 14 psi and i wanna run 18psi

Get the one that is 14psi, get the mbc, and turn up the boost as high as you want (or can).:thumb: That's what a mbc is used for. To turn up the boost past where the wastegate spring opens without it, right?

without mbc = wastegate spring controls max boost pressure
with mbc = you control max boost pressure

so if i have a mbc is there even a point in getting a spring?

Ok man. Your wastegate spring pressure will determine the lowest possible boost level you can run. If your spring pressure is 14psi then you will not be able to run any less than 14psi. However with that 14psi spring and a boost controller you will be able to "fool" the wastegate and allow for more boost pressure to be run by bleeding off some of the pressure going to the wastegate spring. ;) Hopefully this helps explain it a little better. And yes, you will need a spring in there.
