[RESOLVED] Torque on rod bolts

My book says 35lbs, seemed liek a little bit more when I took them off. Is 35 ok?

I was thinking it was like 14.5 ft/lbs then turn another 90 degrees of rotation or something along those lines.

Hey what are the rod bearing caps torque specs??? I am about to replace my friends rod bearings and i need to know the torque specs!

does anyone know the torque spec on the rods cap bolts of a 96 gst?what about the crankshaft main cap?

rods cap bolts - 18 ft. lbs. or 25 NM plus a 1/4 turn

crankshaft bearing cap - 14.5 ft. lbs. or 20 NM

I hope they are new. The 7-bolt rod bolts are torque to yield, and may break if reused.

yea they are new had to buy some new one after I broke a old one on the rod.I had set the toeque setting on 14 and went 90 degree like the book said but it broke and the rest was not to spec when I use a plasti gauge to measure clearance.Hoping to getting a real setting instead of going 90 degree or a better step on how to install the rods cap

That is the spec on the factory bolts. Yours broke because it had been stretched before. The specs for the rod bolts have them stretched. They can only be stretched to the yielding point 1 time.
