[RESOLVED] SSAC FMIC and Tial BOV

I already posted in the eBay FMIC 'bible thread' but it most likely got lost in there so I figured I'd start a new thread.

I will be getting the SSAC FMIC for a 2G once they come back in stock and have a question. I will be doing a blow thru setup with a Tial BOV. For those of you who did this kit with a Tial, did you put the new flange where the current one is? If not, how did you mount it?

Does anyone have any pics of this kit with the Tial?

I have the SSAutochrome intercooler. It comes to you with a 1g BOV flange. At least mine did. If you want to get the Tial BOV you are going to have to take the intercooler pipe into to a welder. Either get the BOV welded on or buy a steel flange and get it welded on. I have a greddy BOV and I just cut the BOV flange off that it came with and used rubber hose to attach my greddy BOV.

I already know I'm going to have to make a visit to a welder. Not to be a jerk, but I'm not looking for common sense answers and people who think they know they answer. I would like answers from someone who has done it (or at least who has a little more knowledge).

i know i havent done this, but if i were to do it, i would have the stock bov flange cut off as close to the intercooler pipe as possible, and then just open up the whole in the intercooler pipe 20-25mm, or whatever the difference would be for the tial and just weld the tial flange to it. to me, thats the only way that makes sense.

Ok. Thanks for the help (and for reading the thread). The only question I have with doing as you suggested would be is there enough clearance for the bov? It is pretty big and I don't know if you just did a straight flange swap if you would be able to close the hood (or if it'd hit something else). I was thinking it might need to be turned so the bov is coming out of the uicp sideways towards the battery instead of straight up (or it might even need to be downward somewhat). Any ideas from anyone?

Still looking for someone who's done it. I wouldn't mind being a test person and being the first, but I don't want to be screwing up the uicp and having it look crappy because of having to weld and reweld a bunch of times.

If you dont have enough clearance which you should. Since the intercooler pipe is basically straight you can turn it so it is pointing sideways like mine is. Weld it on, you will be fine.

The pipe with the flange on it is not straight. The bend at the end will prevent it from being turned much.

put "tial" in the gallery search..I've seen it done before, and it was turned to the side towards the valve cover.

Thanks for the input but I searched the gallery and did not find anyone with a Tial BOV and the SSAC kit. There was one as you described but it was not the right FMIC kit. I also searched the members section for Tial BOV and SSAC and came up with nothing.

There's gotta be someone out there that has at least thought about putting a Tial on the SSAC kit.

Cut the pipe going to the throttle body 3", get couplers for the GM MAF and hook it up. You'll need to get a Tial flange welded for the bov.

I have the same intercooler piping setup from SS and I went to the junkyard and got a coolant reservoir out of a colt and put it in my car.

I am going back through my threads and marking them resolved so here's what happened:

I got the Tial flange put on in the same spot the 1g flange was on the SSAC pipe. I then cut off about 4" the throttle body elbow piece to account for the GM MAF and the couplers.

Pipe with GM MAF inline and Tial bov.
