All the below are correct statements, right? . . .

1. The flexplate goes on with the concave side facing the block.

2. I dissassembled the car in park, not neutral. Even when I put the tranmission in neutral (it is out of the car now of course), the tranny shaft will spin only about a 1/4 turn. This is normal and when the car is reassembled and started, it will spin normally in neutral again.

Are these statements correct?

I don't think the second is correct. Because I can put any automatic in neutral when the automobil is off and roll it around. What has happened since I removed the tranny? It was shifting perfect before I pulled it out.

Ok. It seams like I broke wha appears to be a ring surrounding the transmission shaft. A piece fell out. . . It appears that this ring is shaped to accept the torque converter "dowel". The ring won't swivel It may be binding on itself. And conquently preventing the torque converter from spinning. . .

This is 1991 automatic. . . Does anyone know which piece I'm describing? Does anyone have a blow-apart diagram of a dsm automatic tranny?

. . . I'm getting very frustrated.

EDIT: RESOLVED! I cracked the transmission pump inner gear. . . see http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/automatic-tranny/278626-how-remove-t-pump.html.
