[RESOLVED] Oil sender metal tab replaceable?

While putting my alternator in today, it slipped down and snapped the tab off the front oil pressure sender (I think that's the one for the light?). Looks like the tab *may* be replaceable as there's a screw going through it into the sender itself. Anyone know if it *is* truly replaceable (or if something bad will happen when I remove the screw)? Part numbers for replacement (is this a generic item I can pickup at any auto parts store)?

Would like to fix this, but don't want to replace the whole sender to do it!

They don't cost too much, and can be found at the parts store. Its best to replace it. The oil pressure switch:

I'm assuming that all my oil's going to leak out when I do this, so I should wait until the next oil change? (I *just* changed the oil, haven't even started the car since changing it, so I don't want to do it again yet at $8+ a qt...)

Drain it into a dry, clean container, pass it through a filter when refilling.

You may get a couple of drops from the sender hole, nothing to be concerned about. Use a light coating of Permatex #2 Non-Hardening Sealant on the threads, and do not crank down on the sender- the threads are tapered and it's possible to split the oil cover boss if you over-do it.
Do not use Teflon tape on your car's oil system.

Ended up just pulling the screw (after a local shop was able to say that nothing bad would happen to the sender by doing so). I'm a huge nerd, so I have quite the collection of electrical connectors around. Made a little adapter cable out of 16awg, a ring terminal, and the male end of a quick disconnect that fits perfectly onto the sender and into the harness.

Threw the undercover and wheel back on, tensioned the belts, and went for a spin (figuratively) So far, so good. I'll keep a close eye on it and if anything bad comes out of it (only thing I can imagine is maybe the screw might start backing out or something) I'll report back. If I do eventually end up getting a new sender, they *are* really cheap, only $20 for OEM Mitsu...
