[RESOLVED]number 4 cylinder not firing? (randomly)

Ok, well i having this issue with my car and its really bothering me. number 4 cylinder will randomly not fire, its weird. i was driving today and all of sudden the car started to miss horribly, i pulled over and found out that number 4 was not firing. i removed the plug and and did a metal to metal test, and the fired. i re-installed the plug and the motor ran perfect. this has has happened 3 times today and each time its the same thing(removing the plug and re-installing the plug...working) i changed the plugs and the wires and the problem persist. note/ the transistor is new. thank in advance.

yea , 0300 ( random mifire) comes on. this is so weird

sorry im not sure if its a coil pack or dist cap and rotor? but is so check the rotor/ dist cap for wear/ corrosion, and if its a coil make sure you have power and check the resistance of the coil, could be faulty

To the OP, try swapping that plug wire to the next plug over and run it to see if it then makes that cylinder misfire. That would tell you if its the wires pretty easily. If not, move on to the next option

Also check your fuel injector pigtail at number 4. It could be loose.

I have a simular problem, last saturday returning home from Miami on I-75 we stopped at a resturant, when i started the car up it ran rough like one cylinder was not firing. I reved up the engine and it smoothed out.

IMO bosch wires and plugs suck, stick with NGK

OK, WELL it ended up being something really simple. i had the misfire detection enabled in dsmlink and the ecu was shutting down the injector when ever i got a misfire. thanks guys.

Ok, I am in the same boat. I have this issue where my 1 and 4 piston will not fire! I thought it may be the coil pack as they both run off the same one, so I replaced it with the new coil on plug setup. I jumped in my car all excited like, started it... same thing! Where does the spark come from? I have a 95 Talon TSI. Is it the Crank Position Sensor? I don't know where to go from here!
