Hi all, it's been a while since i've posted anything on here, long story short had to build a new engine for my 91 awd talon and in the process ended up buying a newer 91 awd talon for it to go into.
Finished dropping in engine/trans and hooked everything up minus some emissions vac lines. Removed ABS and A/C lines /compressor etc.
Primed oil before first start up by removing mpi fuse and resistor pack and cranking engine over for just a bit.
Started the car up and cylinders 4 & 2 won't fire (4 being the cylinder closest to passenger side).

Here is the checklist of things i've done to try to focus in on the issue:
1) New plug wires
2) New spark plugs
3) New knock sensor
4) Different known working resistor pack
5) Switched fuel injectors from working cylinders to non-working cylinders
6) Switched 3 & 1 plug wires to 4 & 2 cylinders to test a non-working coil pack, 4 & 2 still no fire, 3 & 1 firing from original 4 & 2 plug wires
7) Noid light tested each fuel injector harness, each rapidly firing as should
8) Compression tested each cylinder, compression present in all cylinders, 4 & 2 matching working cylinders 3 & 1
9) Checked for fuel on spark plugs in cylinders 4 & 2, fuel definitely present

Things I have no checked but need input on:
1) ECU, sniff/visual test?
2) CAS ... read that if this is bad, no cylinders fire... true/false?
3) Coil Pack (even though switching plug wire pairs result in same cylinder non-fire scenario)

I've checked 4 & 2 cylinders as not firing by removing the plug wire while the car is running and idle does not change and audibly there is no change. Also the fuel saturated spark plugs are a good tip off :D

So my question to the community is, what do I need to do to resolve the issue, looking for ideas.

I know that there is significance that it's 4 & 2 cylinders not firing because of the firing order so should I just change the coil pack anyways, this would be a head scratcher if this solved the issue I think.

Thanks to anyone in advance that can help out in any way.

Sorry to the moderators if this is a repeat thread but I did do searching before posting, couldn't find anything related other than 2g's that had one cylinder from each pair not firing, which is not my issue.

Are your spark plugs correctly connected?

I'll check the CAS timing marks, as far as the spark plugs go, yeah there really is only one way to install them, the right way :D. They've been pulled out and examined and switched around and i've replaced them and always the same result of 4 & 2 not firing has occured so I don't think it's spark plugs.

Okay CAS timing marks are correct for TDC, so i'm going to try changing out the coil pack just because, i'll update when I do.

What firing order do you have on the coil? from left to right on the coil it fires from 4123. Cylinders 4 and 1 fire together, and 2 and 3 fire together. So if cylinder 2 and 4 aren't firing it can not be the coil. sounds to me you have the wires done incorrectly. Look at the coil and pull off every spark plug wire that is going to it. Cylinder 4 which is closest to the passenger side fires first, than cylinder 1 which is on the driver side. Than 2, and finally 3. That is how they should be on the coil.

Switching 3 and 1 wires would only cause problems as those cylinders do not fire together. Redo the wires to the coil first

Yup that was the issue, was getting way too ahead of myself and went back to the basics, now I need to get a nice boot to kick myself with.
At least she's purr'n like a kitten now :D.

Thanks all.

ok you said you fixed it so whats your firing oreder i still have the same problem withh my car and firing order for me is 1342 1 is passenger side 2 is driver side so it starts but the number 1---3 spark plugs do not fire i can tell beacuse i shut my car off and there not warm ill switch out spark plugs but just wondering how did you fix it and whats the firing order.
