Well as said in the title i wopuld like to know if the frame for an eclipse gs differed from the one in the gsx?

Story behind this question is that i have a gsx that has some major rust, and my body is practically giving me a gs with no rust watsoever, would it be possible to transfer all the gsx part to the gs, or just put the gsx frame in the gs? something along thoise lines, thanks for any input.

gs comes with 420a so it set up different, you wont be able to mount the 4g63 unless you do some modification

I can't speak on the back half of the car, but the engine bays r totally different. like everybody else said, it'll take alot of time & money to swap everything over. you're probably better off looking for a gs-t or gsx shell and swapping everything over to that

Ok, thanks for the input so far, so im guessing its not possible to do it ith out custom work, but do u think with custom work it would work?

with the right amount of $$ anything can be done. I read somewhere where a guy dropped a 4g63 in a 420a, but the amount of custom work, time & $ involved just isn't worth it IMHO... you're better off looking for another shell...

Yeah not worth all the work - and these cars dont have frames they have sub-frames

not worth it.
engine bays are totally different.
plus mounting drive shafts and the entire awd set up wont work on a gs.
or it would be done alot more often...
way too much work then for what its worth.

Basically look up 420 to 4G63 swap & then also fwd to awd swap & this will tell you if its worth it. The awd swap is abit of work but really not all that bad. From the limited amount I've read on the 420 to 4G63 swap, seems most say, if they had to do it again, they wouldn't. So add both swaps together & you've got yourself a BIG project. Though like said, anything can be done.....

thanks allot for all the info, i guess im just gona end up selling my POS ;( i love it but i hate it its pretty bad. :D for those of you who have senn my other posts, i had the engine problem with the knoch, and i recently took of the valve cover to see if the camshaft might have been the problem, and it surely doesnt seem that way, so im guessing my engine is done for.
