I own a 1997 Gsx with a 1st gen engine swap . Yesterday I was coming over a hill and ran over a wild boar that was already road kill . It knocked off my intercooler pipeing . I put them back together . I went to take it for a test drive and noticed that the car wouldn't shift into 2nd , 4th , reverse . Did I destroy my tansmission ?

Damn a wild boar? I would make sure it didn't tear any of the clutch lines or damaged any part of the shifter assembly but I doubt it would be that considering its on top of your transmission. Mainly check your slave cylinder etc and clutch lines for tears or kinks.

Manual transmissions have separate levers for different gears. 1st 3rd and 5th are controlled by a rod that moves left to right in the forward position, 2nd, 4th, and R will be on that same right to left rod in the back position. Your problem is that even though you pull the shifter back you aren't actually moving parts in the transmission towards the back or if you can't get the shifter to go back then its the same idea. I'm sorry that this isn't very clear but it is hard to describe to someone who hasn't looked at the working closely. Go out to your car and jack it up, find where your shifter comes down and follow the rods that go forward, at least one of them will be messed up. Either fix it or take a picture of the stuff so we can see whats going on and give you more advice.

Ok I checked those two rods you had talked about . The one that shifts 2,4,rev was hitting on a clamp that I had used to put back together the intercooler pipes . So I moved the clamp to a diffrent location . Now the rods clears perfectly so problem solved .
Thank you for your help
