Hello,

Did a lot of searching and found threads mostly about relocating the fuse box but I'm actually interested in replacing mine and possibly the wiring harness too.

I bought a 2g shell with a fuse box that's somewhat hacked up, so I'd like to replace it.

Is there a guide out there for this? is it possible to buy a new replacement fuse box? What about a replacement for the entire wiring harness? Will this be as huge of a pain in the ass as it appears?

You can get a wiring diagram from a service manual, as well as helpful information on where all of your electrical devices are located in the car. Yes it is a huge pain in the ass haha, but doable if you're willing to pull out all the stuff you need to in order to get all of those connectors in there. My recommendation would be do leave as much of the old harness as you can plugged in, and unplug one old connector at a time, then replace it with the new connector. This way there'd be less confusion, but you'd surely still have a huge mess of wires :p

Here's the 97-99 Electrical Factory Service Manual: http://www.scribd.com/doc/17887698/97-99EL
There's a ton of info in there, but if you dig far enough you'll find wiring diagrams and whatnot.

Call miller imports i got a spare from him for like 125 shipped to ohio. The harness and box are one unit, new oem is like 800 i think. Its not the worst thing to replace on the car but you do have to take out the radiator and the wheel liners. I did mine in a couple hours. I also had the fenders off

Fastfred: Interesting, didnt know you could even buy an OEM. Thats a whole lotta jack tho!

OP: Yes, it will be a pain in the ass most likely. You might as well relocate and just get it all over with. Put in in your glovebox or wherever you like

I would repair what you have cause most all harnesses now days arent in perfect condition. They're getting more rare as these cars age.

I never called on it but one of the mitsu dealers locally had it listed as available. Kinda surprised me too considering you cant get a damn fuel filler neck. Put trademotion mentor mitsubishi into google then search their catalog. I use it as a reference for pricing and availability of parts. They are getting rare too i buy them every chance i get. Borderline hoarder status!!

Yes get what you can I do, even from the salvage cars, everything I try to get two of but my quest never ends for more parts, in good shape.

Checking with Miller tomorrow to see if they have what I'm looking for. Thanks guys.

I found brand new OEM harnesses online as well. They're about $700 each (main harness & engine harness). Pricy.

Will a 95-96 harness work on 97+?

It should, but the abs module is in a different spot. So i would try to find the one for your car or get rid of the abs. Er should have one either way. Dont get rid of yours though unless you wanna send it my way that is. If you have a good fuse box you can make your own harness.

Nabbed a 97 harness from Miller Import Parts, both the main harness w/ fuse box and an engine harness. Thanks for the recommendations dudes. Time to work on a wire tuck while it's out...
