Hey hey,

Finally got all the other problems I have been working on sorted out and I was all set to rewire the wideband gauge. I picked up some of the fuse pigtails, popped open the fuse box in the driver side kick panel and thats when the new problems showed up. Looking at the diagram on the cover and what is in the fuse box itself you'll see some serious differences. I was planning on using the cigarette lighter but when I saw the 30 amp fuse in it's slot as well as a few others where the cover says something different I stopped and came here.

I have a bunch of extra gauges that the previous owner installed (one of which is where the cigarette lighter used to be, oil pressure gauge) and I just checked and they are the autometer phantom series mechanical versions, so no electrical/fuse needed. Is this just laziness? Basically instead of using the correct amp fuse you just throw in what you have on hand? Or should I be looking for something that these fuses are wired to before I go switching them? Do I even need to switch them?

Thanks in advance.

Some people toss in fuses that they have and aren't the correct amperage. I don't suggest it personally. I'd switch them since it's better to have blown a fuse then potentially have a risk of a fire.

Those two 30 amp ones where there should be none may be just spares or actually powering something like gauges. Best bet is to take them out and see if there are the connectors there. You could see if those particular fuses are getting power with a voltmeter as well.
