Replacing rear end with fwd suspension!!!!

Im plenty capable of doin any fab work, i might just buy a fwd outta a junk yard to get the parts but dsms are hard to come by in Iowa. I still want a picture if someone can send one. This is why Im doin it because nobody else does and i dont want to just swap my motor and everything because mine is in pretty damn good shape and this car has come a long ass way cant just give up on it now.....to much invested in it!!

the strut towers are in the wrong place. if your wanting to do awd with a fwd.

why? cant you just remove the diff, and axles along with keeping the sub frame installed and keep the cups installed on the knuckles, or replace the cups with a washer.

Im gonna run with slicks once and see if my mph goes up....if i dont hook worth a shit or i dont like it Ill just simply go back.

And why are you wanting to do this again? Now that I'm making some decent power I wish I wish I wish I would've bought an awd.

Why dont you get a good lsd and an h brace it will be a night and day difference as long as you have some decent tires. Ive always been a fwd fan i just like a car with slicks on the front and all my friends have turbo d series hondas that fly by me at 130mph cause the awd cars way so damn much and lose power in the drivetrain.

Ill go screw with it some more today. And recheck my options.

WTF Um? ok, just be sure to weld your center diff, or else.

I just looked at your profile, and if your getting beat by turbo hondas then.... GET A BIGGER TURBO, you have enough fuel, just go BIGGER.

If I go any further i gotta look at gettin rods and pistons and thats not in my budget right now. I plan on getting a gst or tsi tranny and building it. I know this whole thing is stupid im just gonna see if it makes a difference.

im not worried about the center diff if it breaks ill get another one it feels alot faster when its not spinnin!!

I suggest if you are really wanting to do this (which I think is CRAZY but to each his own) Start off buy getting a used fwd trans drop it in and pull the rear diff see if you like it. If you do then conceder swapping the rear axle.

I suggest this b/c if you do not like it then all the fab you have had to do to make it work will have to be repaired back to stock.

I agree with every one else though do not worry about being beat just build her up one piece at a time. I am doing this I have $3000 in part laying around and do not have enough parts or money to get mine back on the road.

I kill the hondas from a stop but they creep away from a role and nobody races from a stop anymore it seems.

If your engine is healthy then there is no reason why your bottom end can not handle a bigger turbo, or even some nitrous.:thumb:

:tease: at hondas.

Hope you got a VCE.

I just read that a vce should only be used while dynoing your car!

This is kinda where i am now with the transfer case and driveshaft out.....i like how hard it pulls in third im pretty set on doin it starting tomorow night

Ill start lookin into the bigger turbo and which one is right for my motor and setup!!

If you're running FWD with your AWD trans, you'll want to install a VCE or weld your center diff. I'm sure your VC is shot by now.

Don't waste your time trying to install a FWD rear axle. Seriously, that is a very big waste of time. Remove the diff/axles/tcase/driveshaft and call it a day. For the difference in weight, it's not worth it. Let's say 20 lbs, or even 40 lbs. For the purpose of a race, you could merely remove the pass seat/rear seats and be at that weight. Or there are 100 other places you can quickly loose the weight.
