I was removing the pressure plate last night and accidentally broke two pressure plate bolts off before I realized I had the impact on forward. I called the dealer and they cant get them till monday. Has any one went to a bolt store and used different bolts. This company here has the 8X1.25X16mm in a grade 8 for 92 cents each. Will these bolts work or do I need the stock bolts. I noticed the stock bolts are shouldered for some reason.

I used just regular bolts on my pressure plate. You will want to get some washers and lock washers as well. And like everything on my motor, I used a little drop of loc-tite as well.

I would use the oem bolts on any car I was working on, but thats just my opinion.

I am an ase certified professional mechanic and I have a 500+ awhp car if that helps sway your desicion making.

I know a lot of ASE certified mechanics that know nothing about cars but are just book smart. I am Master and L1 certified and have had 2 cars over that power level. About to be 3. Doesn't mean I am better than anyone on here or know more. Grade 8 bolts are the same strength as the stock pressure plate bolts. Not to mention they don't have the fatigue of reusing a stock bolt.

Im gonna use the bolts from this bolt company here in Albuquerque. Im sure the bolts will work even better that the stock ones because these bolts don't have a shoulder on them. My talon is completely stock and im gonna use a napa clutch, i'm not trying to make a 500 rwhp car. This car is my commuter, besides my other car is for horsepower. Anyway ill report back on how the bolts worked out. Thanks for the info.

I commend you for searching and finding this thread, but did you even read it? Check the underlined portions below.

...Has any one went to a bolt store and used different bolts. This company here has the 8X1.25X16mm in a grade 8 for 92 cents each...

Pressure plate bolts are M8 x 1.25mm thread pitch x 16mm long.

I used just regular bolts on my pressure plate. You will want to get some washers and lock washers as well. And like everything on my motor, I used a little drop of loc-tite as well.
...Grade 8 bolts are the same strength as the stock pressure plate bolts. Not to mention they don't have the fatigue of reusing a stock bolt...

Regular bolts, i.e. hardware store bolts. That should answer all your questions.
