I cant figure out how the rockers go back on after i replaced all the lifters! Any help? thanks!

The same way you took them off............if you didnt use a prybar, then use it, just lift it up and swing it over onto the lifter, as usual, be careful, if you want to see that Im not lying, then go to www.vfaq.com and engine and see for yourself.

Thanks..that's what I'm using though. I tried that. the pry bar doesnt work cause the rocker is pressing right against the camshaft and theres no way it will budge. and yes i rotated the cam so the uh lobe, i think it is, is pointing up

you say 'lift it up, swing it over the lifter', but lift it up how? you have to get the one end of the rocker under the camshaft before you can swing the other end over the lifter, and thats what im saying, its not working. maybe im just trying to put them in at the wrong angle or something

There's a certain movement with a prybar to get them back on. I'm pretty sure I can't explain it though. Once you find it they will go pretty easily. Good luck :thumb:

ha yes thats what i was afraid of. i was thinking 'man theres no way anybody si going to be able to explain it in words'. worth a try though! like put the end on the spring first, then use the prybar to lift it up? cause i tried this and it wont budge since the lobe is right over it

I understand what you're asking..it's a lot harder to put the rockers back on then to take 'em off. I used a crowbar that was wider than it should've been, so I couldn't get the corner ones..I could get them off, but not on. Put the end of the rocker on the spring, then get the prybar in there & put it in the same position you used when you took them off..pry it up & yeah...if it's almost on, but not quite, get a flat tipped screwdriver & push the lifter down. Once at least the edge of it is on the lifter, use the prybar or whatever to tap it into place. It takes a little work & a lot of yelling & cursing...and I about took the tip of my finger off with the crowbar when the rocker flew off :| People say it's so simple to replace the lifters, but I didn't think it was..it would've been, had the rockers not been so frustrating to put back on! It's kind of hard to describe in words how to put them on.

Also, a magnetic pickup tool was my best friend when I did this! If a rocker flew into the oil passages, I got it out no problem...didn't have to shove towels down there or anything.
