I want to replace my ignition coil pack on a 1996 GST, and wanted to see what steps people have taken while replacing their ignition. Is it a easy job? What have you guys removed out of the way before getting to the ignition coil.

Thanks

JAS.

Ps: if you can provide pictures, that would be a plus.

First step is to diconnect the battery. then your gonna want to remove the fuel rail to free up some room. there are three bolts holding down the fuel rail. if remember correctly they are size 12mm. remove the bolts and gently pick the the fuel rail up and lift it out of the way to give yourself some room for when you remove your coilpack. be very careful with this though. there are three black spacers that can easily fall down into your engine bay or loose one and there a real big pain to find or replace. also be very careful not to knock any injectors out. next is to label each spark plug wire to where they plug in to the coil pack. after you do this you can uplug the sparkplug wires from your coilpacks. unplug the coil pack from its harness and unplug the surrounding harnesses that might get in the way. there should be 4 bolts holding down the coil pack. remove those bolts (one bolt is longer than the rest so remember where each bolt went) then your coil pack is free and lift it out and replace it with your new one. then bolt in your new coil pack from where each bolt came from. Plug in all your harnesses that you unplugged. bolt down your fuel rail (make sure not to loose those black spacers and try not to knock any injectors out) and dont over tighten the three 12mm bolts that holds the fuel rail in place. then plug in yours spark plug wires that you labeled to there specific locations. double check your work just to be on the safe side. connect your batter back up and start your car and you should be good to go. :D
