I have a 95 eagle talon esi, a recent computer diagnostic came back that it should be replaced. I am not happy with the prices I am hearing for taking to a service shop. So I would like to buy the parts and replace it myself. I am not sure how easy it will be so I am just asking if anyone can tell me how to do.

to replace the valve is very easy, you can do it with simple tools and proly 2 hours, it is attached to the head with 2 bolts and then there are 2 bolts that hold the return pipe to the egr all you need is the valve and 2 gaskets

Yep. It's cake. Solenoid is the the little black UFO-looking thing on the front right corner of your engine. Actually, depending on what is wrong with the system, you could probably remove it without any tools at all. Unplug the connector, and slip the vac lines off it. Then take it out. If it's bolted in, I don't remember, as mine's been gone for years now, but I'm pretty sure the solenoid itself is just hanging on vac lines.

The rest of the system is the shiny metal UFO-looking thing right next to it (on the head) and the tube goes around to the back of the manifold. You can get new gaskets for both of these and take them off to clean them.

Before I did any removal replacement shit. I would check out the vac lines running to that thing. If they've been around a while, you might try replacing them with new lines (<$10) and restting the ECU. Might just solve your problem completely.
