ireplace my water pump and timing belt onmy90 turbo lazer when i start it runs fine but when irev it ratles realy bad it has power in frist but i havent takin past 4 grand can any one maybe tell me wut i did wronug .i dident replace blancing shaft belt .so thatshould be in time with thecrank i did startit with out the oil filter on though last night [stupid] oil all over the floor but i dident rev it and i cought it preety fast and turnd the car off i have oil preessure now but do u think that might have somethin to do with it like maybe #### some liffters up or somethin else internly the car ran for like 30 seconds till i relized i had three courtsoff oil on my grage floor but the enign is ratillin realy bad when i rev it like its cutting out and makes a lots off noise i hope i dident blow this thang up becase it is fun to beat people in there mustanges to see there face when thay look at my 90 lazer with a horible body that just woopt there ass.but im gonna rip it allapart agine to day so any sagetions would be gret
 
Make sure you have all timing marks lined up. All belts nice and tight.

Does it stutter at all or just make a rattling?

The car automatically shuts off?

Do a compression test, maybe timing was off. Replace spark plugs and wires.
 
well my dad seams to think its cutting out athigh rpms becase theengine is rely nosie not like rodnock nosiebut like a bunch off bad lifters or somethin this car ran good except for thebad waterpump now i dont no becase im afade to bet onit to see iff it stillhas all off the power it did befor wouldthe timing off a litle on the cames cuse this to cut out but still have lower end power becase i frist gear with thecar rolin i car get on the gasand break them loose with out dumpin thecluth but dont like the sound off the car past 4 grand
 
Lining the timing marks isn't as simple as it sounds. From what you describes you lined the oil pump off the opposite direction. The oil pump ALSO has a balance shaft belt connected to it. If this is misaligned from the other Balance shaft (the one with its own belt) then the rattling would be twice as bad then you didn't have them in at all.

To time it correctly. Turn the oil pump sprocket so tha it is pointing at 12 o' clock (straight up). It should rotate counter-clockwise. If the sprocket does not rotate on it its own, then rotate it with your hand. If it rotates easier counter-clockwise then clockwise (there will be a noticable difference) then counter-clockwise towards the engine mark and line it up.

If it rotates clockwise, then the oil pump sprocket needs to be rotated one full turn (and try the test again to be "doubly" sure).

It is VERY POSSIBLE for the oil pump sprocket be aligned up with the timing mark, but be out of phase with the other balance shaft belt.
 
The oil pump shaft should have its counter weight to the bottom. On the rear side of the block is a screw/plug that You can remove. You can use a slim, long screwdriver to insert into the hole, if it goes all the way in with the timing mark lined up, it is in phase. If You cannot get it to go in, it is out of phase and needs to be re-aligned.

Just a quick question- If the cams were set a tooth or so off, wouldn't the compression be a bit lower than normal?
 
{Well sorry for the grammer english wasent my class in school} But i went back though it found the exsuast cam to be off one tooth. So went back though all the proceduers and ran good so i fix that problem.Now my next problem is that my car wont start after siting for exsdend period off time.I can drive it all day turn it off for 5 hours starts fine. But when i go in for the night the car will not start agine to the next moring.So i have to spray startingfluid in it to get it stared (which i hate to use startingfluid). but wont run right away it take a couple off trys but then it runs fine all day.:talon:
