ok guys i boost tested my motor after i got my motor mounts in and it turns out my core is leaking from the back from rubbing on the a support to much... well my question is can i fix it like with j/b weld or am i better of just buying a new one?
:talon:

I had somehow got about a quarter inch hole in my side mount and I went to autozone and got quiksteel. Im pretty sure that the jb weld would work just as well, as long as you get the tube with the putty. Quicksteel has an adhesive putty on the inside and an activator putty on the outside. just cut off however much you need and knead the putties together with your fingers and plug the hole. In about 5-10 minutes its as hard as a rock. Also a buddy laid down his ninja zx-9r and put a huge gash in the stator cover, all the oil leaked out. I fixed it with quicksteel and he rode the bike for six months till he bought a new cover. It never leaked at all on the stator cover or the intercooler.

Most intercooler leaks can be repaired (Properly, I do not recommend JB Weld). Depends on how bad the hole is, location, ect. Do you have a picture of damage to the intercooler?

JB weld is a temporary solution. Personally I'd have a bead welded over it to seal it, pressure test it for any more leaks and then have rubber lining the area where it was rubbing.

If you cannot weld in the exact spot where the hole is, some people have had luck removing the whole row and welding the end tank hole shut. That much effort though is not always worth it.

just a clarification I didnt mean for you to use jb weld as a permanent repair. I suggested it as a patch to get you by until it could be fixed or replaced. Im really confident that that $5 fix will do until you fix it right.

if you don't have the money to get it fixed right but you need the car to drive daily then jb weld or the putty steel stuff would do as temp.
