removing cruise control

I took it out off mine just to clean up my engine bay. I believe all you need is a non-cruise control throttle cable and that's it. I bought one of Ebay for $40 new...

thank you. thats all i want is to clean up my engine bay. i can hide all the other wiring and stuff lower then the intake but the bulky cruise control unit you cant. how hard is it to install the new throttle cable?

Disconnecting the throttle cable off of the gas pedal is probably the hardest part due to the small space you have to get into to remove it. Besides that it should not take long at all. Took me about 20 minutes....

Why take it out? its not going to save much weight.

I believe its about 5lbs.... I took mine off... track car so no need for CC.

I did not need to buy another cable... my mechanic got the original one to work. Don't know the pros and cons of using the original cable though.

they are usually 5 bucks from the junkyards for a new cable, it takes 5 minutes to get everything out and *mabye* another 5 minutes to get the new cable in, i wouldn't reccomend using the original cable though, just pick one up there cheap!

What can using the old one cause? That it may be to short and tht it could snap off?

SNAP? are you kidding, i had to end up using a hack saw to finally get the original cable off. That cable is extremly tough, i couldn't cut through it with a nice set of craftsman wire cutters. (they usually cut anything) trust me unless it's rusted or looks brittle it's definitly not going to break.
