Before I start I just want to state that yes alot of pieces are missing from the engine. I was in the middle of fabricating new IC pipes when I decided it would be a good time to do this mod so if I left a few things out i'm sorry.
I decided to due this to clean up my engine bay and I never really used my cruise control(CC) anyway. Start off by ordering a 2g non-cruise control cable from your favorite DSM vendor. I had already relocated the battery to the trunk so it was allready out of the way. If yours is still in the engine bay you may want to remove it for ease, and safety. If you've ever grounded out a battery you'll understand why.
Next remove the CC diaphram control box located on the left side shock tower located behind the fuse box. 3- 10mm bolt hold it on.
Next move to the firewall and remove the plate covering the CC throttle cable cam there should be 2 bolts that hold it to the firewall.
This is were it starts to become a pain.
Remove the 2 fuel rail bolts that hold on the TC brackets. Remove the brackets from the cable.
On the firewall there is a control valve (emmisions I believe) on a bracket directly behind the intake manifold. remove the 2- 10mm bolts holding it on. This will help in removing the retaining plate bolt located below it for the TC.
Remove the 2- 10mm bolts for the TC adjustment plate located on the intake manifold. Remove the TC from the TB.
Remove the 10mm bolt from the firewall that holds the TC plate to the firewall.
Contort yourself under the drivers side footwell and with a pair of needle nose pliers release the round yellow clip fron the "go" pedal.
Go back up to the top and pull the old cable out though the fire wall.
Now this is were it gets fun. From the passenger side slide the new non-cruise control cable with the correct end back though the firewall. Make sure it has passed though the firewall and is in the correct location in the drivers side footwell.
Back up top I routed mine under the location of were the IC pipe bolts up to the TB and then to the brackets at the fuel rail and finally to the back side of the intake manifold.
Re-tighten everything backup and adjust the TC to your preference, slide back under the drivers footwell and snap the clip back into place on the go pedal. There is a slot that the cable slides though and then the yellow clip snaps into the hole.
One important note. DO NOT START THE CAR UP UNTIL YOU HAVE DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND BACK TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT STICKING AND RUBBING ANYWERE!!!!
I do not know if these steps apply to CA vehicles or any others and this is strictly a guide for reference and assistance. Please be sure you know what you are doing when you alter or modify anything that affects the control of your vehicle.
