Phil, will you post an Avatar and some gallery pics some day? :p

Ha.....I will do that ASAP......I'm actually computer dumbliterate so I will have a friend get that done for me and hopefully teach me all that stuff along the way. I do have many pics over the last 11 years. I promise I will get some up here soon!

Holy mackeral! I just got back from a two week vacation, and spotted this thread. I see my Garage Elves have been hard at work in my absence. Not surprising. I went out to dinner and a play one night with my wife, and came home to find the three of them had pulled the motor and transmission while we were out, figured out that the nasty noise was loose flywheel bolts, and were getting ready to put everything back together. What a crew!

In answer to one question above, the car was tuned for 355 hp at the wheels, so it would fit into TTS class. AMS built the 2.3 stroker motor, and they tell me it is capable of 700 hp with a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, and so on.

One reason I am selling it is because my fabulous crew are all building their own track cars, and I can't do this without their help. I simply don't understand all that technology and don't have the wrench skills to keep it together myself. I'm just a shoe. All foot, no brain.

So, I will probably buy some kind of toy car that I can drive to the track with the a/c on, run all weekend, and drive home. Dunno what yet. Something basically stock that I don't have to wrench on much.

I ain't out of the picture yet.

Rich

I know what you mean Rich....there is definitely alot of set-up and tear down. I work at a shop locally here in Connecticut and several employees and customers run the NASA series....Subarus and EVO's mostly. I see what it takes to be competitive. We had an SE-R Sentra that was 2nd at Nationals at Mid-Ohio. I kinda have to sit back and watch at this point, but, I would hope to be more involved in the future.

Nice, 2.3 stroker at 355 AWHP....sounds like a great combo. My car is still the original engine with 80,000 miles and I suppose I would run with that until I would need that rebuild. My suspension is totally done including JIC Coilovers and every conceivable bushing available for the car along with the toe-eliminators. I would need a better radiator and of course the safety equip including cage. That's where the car would need most of the attention.

As far as a car you could drive to the track, have fun, and then drive home. Hmmm, I did it with the EVO, but that's gone now.....

I don't know what caliber car you might want, but, the Lotus Elise sure is nice for what you're talking about, but, damn its a tight fit and I'm only 5'8". You may want to consider the new STI or something. EVO X is a thought but its porky now at 3600lbs. I did see the Best Motoring vid at Tsukaba Circuit and the car seems to be alot better balanced than previous EVOs. Anyway, good that you'll stay in it!

Thanks for the reply!

Rich always refers to me as his protoge....Let's hope I live up to the name. I have my eyes on the midwest TTR champ for 2008.

I missed that coment the first time through.

I remember when Jon took to the track for the first time at Road America. One of the other 3000GTs broke, so Jon bought the guy's Sunday entry fee for $15 and ran the car you see above, but it was a stocker then.

Jon had been riding with me all day Saturday, not saying a word, just watching me like a hawk.

So we go out in his 3000GT with me riding along as instructor and, on his first hot lap, Jon hit every braking point, every entry, every line dead perfect! I ddn't have to say a thing. Alas, Jon was running el-cheapo brake pads, so the brakes were completely gone by the time we got to Turn 5 on the first hot lap!!! He did so much pumpng and coasting down after that, he never really got a good lap.

Yeah, he's my protege, but I didn't teach him anything. He picks it all up by osmosis. He is still the only member of my crew who will ride with me at speed.
