Can the FIAV " the wax pellet operated air bypass valve" be repaired at all? Mines stuck in one position causing cold idle surge. (1G 1992 non turbo TB)

I want to keep it completely stock and repair the FIAV spring/wax pellet. Is it possible with parts from another throttle body?

be easier to find a new tb

True, but I most likely will have this problem again down the rode with a new Throttle Body... Thats why I want to know if its possible to unplug the freeze plug and rebuild it somehow? Is it possible?

cleaning might help, but as fas as replacing the wax pellet, i don't think you're going to find a replacement for that. if you're ripping it apart why not just block it off?

I want to keep it stock so my lady wont have to assist the car by giving it gas when its warming up. Which the by-pass plate will cause low RPM on cold start and might even stall. (Specially if your trying to drive the car right away when cold... not that "I" drive it right away after its started...but my lady would)

i have no fiav and never had a problem with mine in cold weather. the problem is when people just don't run the coolant lines to them and leave the fiav intact.
