So im rebuilding my engine completely.
I bought all the timing stuff and new oil pump, water pump ect.
Now I figure why not buy some performance internal stuff while its already out anyway BUT im not really sure about rods and pistons like performance wise.

Anyone got some info on what kind of pistons and rods?
My budget is flexible cause im not doing this in a hurry.
Thanks

Goals? budget a lot of information here about set ups but answer your questions goals, and your budget, race car, street car?

Im rebuilding it as a street car but with a little kick:p I hoping for 275 to 300.
Im not in a hurry at all so I can save money for certain parts.

Still need,

pistons
rods
bearings

I just dont know what to get since theres so many different companies. This is my first rebuild so im not really experienced

Engine internals don't add power(unless you raise compression). They hold the power you want to put to it. Pm me for a deal on some forged internals

If your pistons and rods are still good to go and within specs I would just reuse them. If that is your original engine (1991) then it's a 6 bolt and the rods are stronger then the later 7 bolts. I would just throw in some ACL Race bearings and ARP head studs and you'll be set.

alright cool. Any recomendations on pistons?

Well on my 6 bolt the pistons were trashed due to a spun bearing so I went with Wiseco 8.3:1 forged pistons mounted on the 6 bolt rods with ARP fasteners. Those were the pistons I choose based on my own research and recommendations from other DSMers. So far I am very happy with them. :thumb: However if I could do it again I would probably go with a forged rod since that is now my weakest link.
