I am rebuilding my bottom end and was wondering if i need anything more than just the Pistons and Rods replaced ? Besides the rings , sure i can get a oil pump but just wanted to know if i needed anything else. :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

replace bearings while you have it apart. i am assuming you are pulling the motor out of the car. i don't know if you can buy low compression stock diameter pistons for the 420a. make sure you also replace all the timing belt bearings and water pump. you don't want all that hard work on your block to go with 100 dollars Worth of timing parts.

When you go "twenty over," you're talking about the bore of the cylinder. The diameter of the cylinder is .020" larger than before (stock). If you then bore it another twenty, you would say it's got another twenty over, so forty over.

You might need different sized bearings, but get a set of stock sized rod and mains to begin with. Unless you spun one of the old ones, I doubt you'll need to step up in that regard. Your machine shop will let you know if you need oversized and you can pick them up from your local Napa for cheap.

One final note, 1995 blocks have the mains notched differently, so if you're going with a 95 block, you either need two sets of any other year mains or a set of the specially notched 95 mains.

Hope this helps.
