ok, so im planning on rebuilding my 93 tsi. i plan on getting the head shaved a little to increase compression and the pistons bored .030..its the first motor i ever rebuilt so i just wanted to know what all i need to get to do it. and im working on a grand budget..so cheap but good and reliable parts..:D

You are going to want to replace all or most of the gasket, piston rings. valve seals, new pistons if you bore out cylinders, timing belt with tensioner, you need new head bolts, and a water pump. A company named Topline sells good quality and cheap parts, they have a gasket kit for the engine and sells pistons that are stock quality but have 8:1 compression. If you plan on pushing more boost you will need a better head gasket also. With the machine work on the engine and if you do all the work yourself it will be under a thousand.

Don't forget bearings and seals ..
I would go whit ACL bearings there the best on my book
Also i would use oem parts insted of topline just to make sure everything is good.
A stock rebuild dosen't take that much money.
