heres the story: bought the car in JULY. drove it on my trailer, drove it off the trailer at the mechanics shop. 2 weeks later hes got the longblock ready for the machinist, i pick it up and drop it off with another guy. he takes 2 months to finish. i drop the FINISHED engine back off to the mechanic for reinstallation on the 27th of september. ive called once a week since then, 12 days ago he actually pulled the car in the shop. now ive never done a 4g63 installation but i HAVE done others. usually its an 8 hour process.
has anyone ever had to sue a mechanic for something similiar to this?
its outrageous, i mean, im a patient man but for ###s sake, almost 2 months and he hasnt even got the engine in the car?

I'd say that's a bit ridiculous. I'd take your money and move to a new shop, or do it yourself.

Some of you guys crack me up. OP, what were the terms of the work being done? It looks like you dropped it off and told him you were in no hurry and now your pissed because it's taken so long. This exactly why I always want to know exactly when the customer and I agree that the car needs to be done by.

I second this, normally when something like this is done there is an expected agreed upon time that both parties speak of.

exactly, we never agreed on a certain time. then again, he has promised me about 3 times since hes had the car it will be done next tues, wed, etc..etc.. and obviously it was a lie. thats the catch. im very patient and friendly but cars dont like to sit for a long time. i could have a frozen caliper somewhere now or other misc. small issues. cars perform best when ran regularly. im going to visit him tomorrow and ask for a date in writing when the car will be finished. thats the only way i can get his ass moving i think. then, i agree with the post who said contact the BBB. i dont want legal action, i like the guy, but i DO need my car back eventually LOL

Your car will be fine. I bought a shell that sat for 3 years, swapped an engine in and it was perfectly fine. Don't worry about the small things.
