Well I just got my engine out and opened up the oil pan to find out what seized it up and it was kind of obvious. I was going to the next town over and about 15 minutes into a 30 minute drive I was getting on a high way from a ramp, wasn't on it very hard at all, and the engine started to tick. I let off the gas, the engine died, and I pulled over to the side of the road.

About 2 weeks before this my oil line going to the turbo was leaking and I had changed it, filled the oil up again, and had checked the oil a few times since then. I had must have got a huge oil leak because it was completely drained. The engine wasn't smoking really but when I opened up the oil cap some came out. I didn't notice it overheating but it happened so fast I don't think i really ever looked in that time.

So what it looks like happened is the rod cap came off and the got stuck between the block and the crank. You can see one of the rod bolts melted and the other was just out. The oil pan had a scratch on it where the cap hit it but it wasn't too bad. As you can see in the pic the rod has been twisted a little bit and the end of the rod plus the cap was crushed pretty good and had some chips taken out of it. The bearing pretty torn to shreds. From the point where the rod interferes with the crank turning I can turn it the opposite way a little over 1/3rd of a turn and something else stops it. I haven't got it all apart yet but I will have to see what else I'm in for.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do but I would like to use my block and do a 7 bolt stroker. I really like the idea of more low end torque of the stroker plus if i build a strong bottom end now I won't have to worry later. My only thing is that I don't want to use a remand crank or any crank that is turned. I don't know if its really necessary to buy a new eagle crank either because that is quite a bit of money. I also have the option of a Topline crankshaft or finding a used 4g64 crank that doesn't need to be turned. I've seen a few people ask if the 4g64 cranks from the 3g eclipses are the same as from the galant and eclipse spyders but I haven't found anyone that has confirmed anything yet.

Anyway if anyone has any input or advice that would be cool. Also wanted to see what you guys think about the pic. Thanks.
