1G Rear subframe bracket

Not sure if this is where it should be posted but, upon removing my rear subframe the brackets that go from the subframe to the body of the car in the rear. The bolts snapped from 20+ years of aging. I'm redoing the entire rear starting with the bushings. My question being do I need those brackets? Any help would be nice thank you.

Those tie the suspension to the car to stiffen the chassis up, pretty important to me.

Get a drill and start drilling out the bolts. Or weld on some new brackets/mounting points.

I can deffinately do that, as long as there attached right it doesn't have to be the exact mounting points?

I would take a torch and melt whats left out of that hole and re-tap it, keeping in mind that there is a fuel tank and fuel lines in that area that might leak fumes, so water and fire extinguisher and everything like that needs to be there and best to do it outside and ideally with the tank out.

The car suffered alot of body rot before I had someone weld most of the holes underneath with patch panels I don't know if the one side still has a stock mounting hole but for the driver's side I'll take your advice as for the other side I'll figure it out thank you for the help and info

Fwiw I don’t have them on my subframe. I haven’t noticed any changes in how the car feels or handles. It’s been like this for almost three years now.

You might notice them now though if you were to put them back? never know.

maybe, maybe not. id say if i was building an autox car i may notice a difference but its a street strip car so it doesnt really get thrown into corners hard and my car 60's well. i may end up drilling and tapping to see but its not that big of a deal. correct me if im wrong but the front subframe on the 1g doesnt have any kind of strap on the studs and its not an issue?
