The question is too vague to give a specific answer. How do you know it is the strut that is making the noise? If you are sure it is the strut then that's the part to replace. There are lots of moving parts in the rear suspension. Jack up the car, remove the wheel and inspect everything, especially ball joints and bushings.

i have the same prob the back right strut is not atached to the body if somebody knows what to fix ### pm me i dont mean to take the thread but i am going through the same thing and it sucks i can post pix on my profile if anybody wants to see

Sounds like your strut/shock mount is rusted through or not connected? A picture would help though. The shock/strut mount is where it attaches to the car. Three bolts hold it to the top of the body and then your strut mounts in the center with a single bolt. They are cheap to replace.

When shocks go bad things will tend to clunk, if there really blown then you would want to replace them ASAP, otherwise you're just going to run into more problems because all of the other suspension components are taking all the stress that your blown shock should be taking. Also with a blown shock you will notice the car is a more bouncy rather than stiff.

Hope this helps,
Stef

That is your upper strut mount. It looks pretty old and rusty. Replace it. It's fairly cheap and easy to change.

it is old and rusty my strut went through it LOL but i dont no where to get the part ive been driveing on it like that for a long time i no not good but its my only car so i have to so if anybody knows where to get that part ### tell me

Check to see if you put all the parts back right. I forgot to put in a washer one time and the strut came up through the top.

Looks like I was right on that one... you can get them from a few different places. Go on e-bay and search (strut mount eclipse) make you sure get the "rear" ones, you might also try the local auto parts store along with the dealership. I will attach a photo so you know what it looks like. Good luck bro
