if you can't find a decent one, you could always try to fix it yourself if it isn't too bad. Not sure if body work is your thing.

Heres the deal: My car was hit by one of the trucks owned by the company I work for... Right side quarter panel is shot. How hard would it be to get a new one and replace it? Far short of the obvious sand, prime and paint. From what I understand, our panels need to be cut off and welded back on...

My insurance company claims that the car is totalled, due to economic reasons....What the F***? Its mechanically sound! Cripes, it only has 101k on the motor...

The panel is shot, I know that...The truck hit it and folded it, then worked its way up the trim on the door....We're talking a 26000 lb truck here...

On our cars, we had a whole panel to replace. Open your door and look for a seem halfway up, thats where our quarter panel begins. You can't replace it other than cutting the section that was hit and fabbing up a whole piece of sheet metal. Sorry dude, your car is done.

Your car isnt done, any good shop can actual take the time to repair it. Hell I can even give you the part numbers

I would tell your company its their truck and their fault and their insurance should cover it. (unless its obviously your fault)

But like I said, any good body shop should be able to fix it. If not, you can always find a shell, or just rock the damage.

you are familiar with the Insurance thing are you. they look at the value of the car vs what it would cost to fix it. they look at the most profitable situation for them. However you can buy it back form the insurance company if they total it. I would look into all your options before agreeing to anything with them.

Alright I search for a 2g just found 1g stuff on this but I got a 99 Eclipse and i Need to replace the Ride side quarter panel there is a crease down the hole side... I was wondering if it was spot welded like i've heard that the 1g's are or im I gonna have to cut the panel out and line up a new one and re weld?

The dents need to be pulled out, filled, and repainted. The quarter panels do not unbolt they are part of the cars structure and can only be replaced by cutting them off and welding on new ones which would cost a lot more and you would still have to repaint.

cut outside/beyond the seams that you want. Drill out the spot welds and seperate the edges of the adjoining panels on the work bench. Less damage to the desired panel that way. Do the reverse on your car. Cut out the bulk of the panel with the sawsall/air-chisel, and leave the edges/seams intact. When you drill-out the spot welds on your car, you just have to peel away the old edges. If I were doing my q-panels (they need it bad), I'd just do the lower quarter. I'd make the cut/hide the seam behind the side trim, near the vent. I know the vent complicates things, but isn't the other option to take the entire 1/4 panel; from the tail-light, to the window and b-pillar, all the way down to the seam under the door, and all down the rail under the sill? I've messed with unfolding the crease of the wheel-arch and refolding it. If that isn't rusted, I'd leave it alone.

A lot of it will depend on how much of a replacement panel you have.
Why is it being replaced? Rust or crash damage? On a 1G especially (and, even on 2Gs), it doesn't take much labor to outrun the cost of a better shell.

I have a 93 eclipse GSX, i'm only sixteen and wanted a 2nd gen. but couldn't find one that was reliable for the money. so, i found this first gen. i live in pittsburgh so we get snow and i saw it was AWD. so, i said alright i'll buy this thing and use it as my winter car/beater. when i went to go look at the car the passenger side qaurter panel was smashed in. but the car did come with another quarter panel so i just need to get it put on and painted and such. does anyone know of any GOOD auto body places near the pittsburgh area? and also i need a drivers side front fender, mine has a small ding in it.

I don't know of a any body shop. But my suggestion would be to pull your's out before cutting it out and welding a new one on. Mine was pretty bad after 140 mph accident and I pulled it out with a 100 dollor stud gun just think about it body work is a good field to know especially living where it snow's.

someone hit and run my eclipse. i have full coverage for my car. told the insurance to give me the money and i fix it myself. the only problem i have left is that WHERE CAN I FIND A QUATER PANEL for a 97 Eclipse Spyder... EBAY DOESNT HAVE IT.... what website does?

Best bet is to go to a junkyard if you're doing it yourself, otherwise let a body shop do it. Far as i know nobody sells rear quarter panels because they're pinch welded to the rest of the rear of the car. Junkyards sometimes cut up pieces of the cars they get for body shops, do-it-yourself'ers, etc. Good luck.

I'd for sure let a body shop take care of it, though I'm not much for doing body work. One thing to hack the fenders off a 78 Chev or patch in some tin to get by for road inspection but to make it look nice... too much headache for me!
