1G Rear caliper awd vs fwd

Hey y’all,

In true DSM fashion, when I bought my car the PO gave me every part that ever came off and every part he intended to put on.
Found these and was wondering if they will fit my 1G, 91 Eclipse GSX, he couldn’t remember if they were for a FWD.

Take a look and let me know what you think, if they are the same for FWD/AWD I guess that would answer my question.

They look correct. Just an FYI- I put new rebuilt calipers from advance auto and one side was missing a washer.

I’d try to find a way to unload them and get some dual piston calipers/brackets for better stopping power

I wish I had photos to show you, but those don't look like AWD rear calipers. I purchased one from Summit Racing last year that said it was for rear AWD. It looked like that and it took me a minute to realize the exit angle of the brake hose connection. The connection pointed straight at the inner wall of the wheel - probably needs a banjo fitting to connect correctly. The (what I'm assuming I had was) factory brake line will connect to that caliper but need to bend VERY sharply to not rub on the inner surface of the wheel. I believe for the AWD rear calipers the brake line connection angles inward, toward the rear shock, at about a 45deg angle. Again, wish I had photos

2G calipers on the front already. Do you know of a dual position upgrade for the rear ?

Good eye. My line does point more towards the inside.

I answered in haste earlier and didn’t realize those were rear calipers. To date, there are no simple or cost effective rear caliper replacements that will offer better stopping power than the stock units. The rears offer such little stopping power that it’s almost pointless in trying to upgrade.
