Really weird idle problem

When I crank my car it jumps to 3000 rpms and holds, then drops to just under 1000 and fluctuates then dies

what do I need to look at?

if you say TPS, or ISC how do i check them, or how do i set the TPS

It sounds like more of an air leak problem than electrical.

Check for air leaks all around, make sure your intercooler doesn't have a hole in it...

You miiiight get a pending CEL code, so go to autozone and borrow an OBD2 reader.
and while you are at autozone, pick up a manual, it will tell you how to measure your TPS, etc.

yeah i have the manual and an obd2 reader, im in no way new to this, but its been a while since ive worked on the dsm (ran out of money after i built the motor)

so i have a GM maf, so there isnt many places to look for leaks at correct? just tb and lines off of the intake mani ?

You have a turbo, which means you have about 3x as much piping to look for leaks. Unless you have that MAF mounted right on the throttle body, then yes you would be correct. At that point I'd start looking at vacuum lines, this is more than a days work in itself. But feel free to go through TTT's idle FAQ, you'll probably spend a day readin that anyway

Did it just start doing this one day suddenly? or did you have progressive problems leading up to a complete stall like this?
